Kosovo would need decades to reach the living standards of European Union member states with yearly income of Kosovars remaining the lowest in European soils.

The living standards in Kosovo, despite improvements in recent years, remain under the average in the region and far from the European Union member states.
According to a 2017 report of Kosovo Agency of Statistics, a Kosovar family spends yearly an average of 7,803 euros or 1, 511 euros per person.
This according to the state’s agency makes Kosovars the poorest in the region and beyond.
The International Monetary Fund, IMF, estimates that the average yearly income for a person living in the European Union area stands at 35, 800 dollars, while in Kosovo it’s around 4,442 dollars.
According to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, EBRD, Western Balkans countries, including Kosovo, would need from 40 to 200 years to reach the Gross Domestic Product, GDP, of the European Union member states.
